Our Story

  • Hello! We’re Rosie and Philip from Made in Japan UK (or MIJ for short). Simply put, we source and sell beautiful Japanese tableware.

  • We founded MIJ because, to be honest, we were fed up with low-quality, boring tableware!

In a world where we’re busier and more distracted than ever, we believe our interactions with everything we eat and drink should be an experience to savour. So, we set out to supply tableware that does just that.

Our products are made for daily special occasions. We’re your Sunday best, every day. Elevating mealtimes and sparking conversation; we help make every moment matter.

Our products make their way from Japan to our warehouse in Yorkshire, where we look after them until they go to their new homes. We work alongside our friends, Made in Japan Australia, who have been importing Japanese tableware for nearly 30 years.

The majority of our products are sourced from small, family-run kilns in Gifu on the central island of Honshu, with the rest of our collections sourced from the length and breadth of Japan.

Our products are made with love and care in Japan, but it’s with you where their story lives on.
