Shipping is £6.95 or free for orders over £75 (UK mainland only). Outside UK mainland and for European orders these are charged at additional rates shown here.
We aim for all orders to be dispatched from our warehouse in Yorkshire within 1-3 business days, this may be slightly longer in our busy periods (Seasonal sales, Christmas). Due to couriers being heavy-handed, we take extra care to prepare the order for sending, which takes a little extra time.
We don’t offer this as a standard option, but if you contact us directly, either before or after placing your order, we’ll do our best to arrange this for you, email - info@mij.co.uk or call 07747 075563.
Our warehouse is based at Redbrick Mill, just outside of Leeds, if you are local you can pick up your order from the Found at Redbrick shop.
We can and often do for specific retail customer requests, please see a list of the countries we currently ship to here, if your country is not on the list – no problem, please just get in touch with us via email at info@mij.co.uk and we’ll try to work something out for you with a bespoke shipping fee.
We do, however don’t offer this as a standard option through the website – due to varying and higher rate shipping costs. International shipping is calculated on weight and parcel size so if you’re interested in shipping to the US please get in contact with us, including your order (items/quantity/delivery address) and we can calculate the shipping for you.
We ship all our orders directly from our warehouse based in sunny Yorkshire – no long lead times for delivery, no import delays, and everything on our website is in our warehouse and available to buy. Many other websites selling Japanese tableware/homewares are not based in the UK and we often hear of disappointed customers having long delays or orders cancelled.
Tracking information is available for orders placed with the courier DPD. Once your order has been dispatched you will receive tracking update messages directly via the courier.
The best method of return is via the post office small parcel service, please make sure your order is well wrapped as the couriers can be very heavy-handed.
Once we have received the items back to our warehouse and they are in good condition, we will refund you within 2-5 working days.

We take great care to make sure your orders arrive safely, however, if this does happen, please contact us at info@mij.co.uk or call 07747 075563. Please take a picture of the breakages as this will enable us to process your replacement quickly.
It is possible to cancel your order as long as it hasn't been dispatched from our warehouse. Please contact our customer service team by phone and we will cancel your order immediately.
Absolutely, all of our orders are wrapped in traditional Japanese newspapers, but for something extra special, you can add a beautiful Furoshiki wrap to your order and we'll take care of the rest.
The production and delivery of our items can be quite a lengthy process as our products are made and shipped from Japan. Although we try to have as many products in stock as possible, sometimes there are occasions that products will become out of stock. Please contact us at info@mij.co.uk or call 07747 075563 to verify the future availability of items.
The makers are all based in an area of Japan called Gifu, they range from small local family workshops that have mastered a style and finish to perfection, to larger kilns which have passed down knowledge to several generations to be world-renowned pottery guild masters. All of our pieces are hand-finished so each piece is original and unique to varying degrees.
The majority of Made in Japan products are ceramics made from Gifu-specific clay. The products are durable and the coloured glazes do not contain any metals.
Yes absolutely, the vast majority of our items can be popped in the dishwasher, phew!
There are a few items and glazes
where we would recommend hand washing instead - for example, chopsticks and the crackle glaze. For more information see our product care page.
Many of our items are used in professional kitchens around Japan and the rest of the world, so yes, they are microwave and oven-safe. However, like any ceramics, our products aren't fans of extreme heat or sudden changes in temperature. For this reason, to prolong the life of your tableware, we recommend taking a little care and not putting them in the oven constantly.
There is a discount code box at the checkout stage for you to input any code before finalising your order.

We use recycled Japanese newspaper and scrunched brown kraft paper in all our parcels, due to the delicate nature of our products we do use plastic bubble to bundle together multiple items, but we would encourage you to reuse/recycle all the packaging where possible. We are constantly looking for “greener” alternatives to all our packaging.
