Crafted in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata, this versatile Japanese hori hori garden knife is designed for both gardening and outdoor use. Whether planting bulbs, transplanting seedlings, digging, harvesting wild vegetables and mushrooms, or tackling everyday garden tasks, it is a practical companion built to perform.

The blade is made from heat-treated SUS420J2 stainless steel, offering an excellent balance of sharpness, durability, and corrosion resistance. Each blade is individually sharpened by skilled craftsmen using techniques traditionally used for Japanese kitchen knives, resulting in a clean, precise cutting edge.

The handle is crafted from rich walnut wood, chosen for its beautiful grain and comfortable shape, allowing power to be transferred efficiently during use. Each knife is supplied with a protective sheath and is available with either a genuine leather sheath or a synthetic leather sheath.

What’s in the box?

Our products are made with love and care in Japan, but it’s with you where their story lives on. And for that to happen, we need to make sure they arrive with you in one piece! We carefully wrap each item in bubble wrap and traditional Japanese newspapers (you’ll often find a Japanese crossword or sudoku to solve!). You’ll also receive a short guide on how to care for and cherish your new tableware. Sustainability is important to us and we’re working hard on ways to keep items safe while being kind to the planet, too.
