HAZE is a Japanese maker of traditional warosoku candles, handcrafted in Kawagoe, Saitama using the time-honoured tegake-seiho method.

Made from 100% natural haze wax derived from the Japanese wax tree, the candles produce a steady, bright flame with minimal soot. Following Japan’s traditional craft system, wax, wick, and candle are produced across different regions and brought together with care.

Rooted in the beauty of impermanence, HAZE celebrates the idea that no two flames are ever the same. The name reflects both the Japanese wax tree and the soft, fleeting nature of mist, expressing a quiet, thoughtful approach to everyday living.

What makes our products so special

What’s in the box?

Our products are made with love and care in Japan, but it’s with you where their story lives on. And for that to happen, we need to make sure they arrive with you in one piece! We carefully wrap each item in bubble wrap and traditional Japanese newspapers (you’ll often find a Japanese crossword or sudoku to solve!). You’ll also receive a short guide on how to care for and cherish your new tableware. Sustainability is important to us and we’re working hard on ways to keep items safe while being kind to the planet, too.
