This is an introduction to the incredibly varied world of vegetarian Japanese food. Vegetarianism has long been a feature of the Japanese diet, and this book walks us through the history of Japanese vegetarianism, as well as providing tips on the key ingredients that are most used in Japanese vegetarian cooking to help you create a mouth-watering Japanese vegetarian feast at home. Alongside the 70 delectable recipes including traditional sushi and noodle dishes, such as gyoza dumplings, fried tofu yakitori, nigiri zushi, tempura, tofu katsu curry and aubergine and padron pepper with somen noodles is stunning colour photography.

Most of Made in Japan products are sourced from small, family-run kilns in Gifu on the central island of Honshu, with the rest of our collections sourced from all over Japan. Our products make their way from Japan to our lovely warehouse in Yorkshire, where we keep them safe until it’s time for them to head to their new homes.

What makes our products so special

What’s in the box?

Our products are made with love and care in Japan, but it’s with you where their story lives on. And for that to happen, we need to make sure they arrive with you in one piece! We carefully wrap each item in bubble wrap and traditional Japanese newspapers (you’ll often find a Japanese crossword or sudoku to solve!). You’ll also receive a short guide on how to care for and cherish your new tableware. Sustainability is important to us and we’re working hard on ways to keep items safe while being kind to the planet, too.
