Igarashi first gained international recognition as a graphic and product designer, known for works such as the axonometric calendar for the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, his iconic three-dimensional alphabet designs, and visual identity projects including Suntory Hall and Calpis. His work spans graphic design, product design, and architectural projects.
In 1994, he shifted his focus to sculpture, creating numerous public artworks using materials such as wood, stone, metal, terracotta, and stained glass. His sculptures can be found in public spaces around the world.
He is also Professor Emeritus at Tama Art University.
