Care Instructions - Matsuo Hamono Weeding Hoe
This tool is made from carbon steel, chosen for strength, sharpness, and durability. With regular use, the steel may naturally darken, stain, or develop light surface rust if left wet. This is a normal characteristic of the material.
1. Correct Use
- Designed for weeding, loosening soil, cultivating, and light hoeing.
- Avoid striking stones, concrete, or other hard surfaces.
- Do not use for heavy prying or excessive force.
- Use steady, controlled strokes for best results.
2. Keeping It Clean
- Remove soil and moisture after each use.
- Rinse if needed, then dry thoroughly.
- Apply a light coat of camellia oil or mineral oil to the blade before storage.
- Store indoors in a dry place.
3. Keeping It Sharp
- A sharp edge improves performance and reduces effort.
- Sharpen occasionally with a stone or file as needed.
Wooden Handle Care
- Apply natural wood oil occasionally if the handle becomes dry.
- Avoid leaving outdoors in prolonged wet weather.
