Lemnos RIKI Hibiya Wall Clock
Lemnos RIKI Hibiya Wall Clock
By Lemnos
Originally designed in 1972 by Riki Watanabe (1911–2013), a pioneer of modern Japanese design, the Hibiya Clock was created as a public clock for the Dai-ichi Life Insurance headquarters at Hibiya Crossing in Tokyo. Celebrated for its bold simplicity and exceptional readability, it became one of Watanabe's most iconic works.
To mark its 40th anniversary in 2012, the original design was reimagined in a smaller size and introduced into the Lemnos collection as the RIKI Hibiya Wall Clock. Retaining the strong visual presence of the original, its minimalist design combines timeless elegance with everyday functionality.
Crafted from aluminium and glass, the clock reflects Watanabe's philosophy of simplicity and functional beauty. Its refined appearance makes it a distinctive addition to contemporary interiors.
Riki Watanabe founded Japan's first independent design studio in 1949 and played a significant role in shaping modern Japanese design, with clock design remaining one of his lifelong pursuits.
