Crafted by Asakura Kagu in Niigata, Japan, this unique kitchen tool is designed to simplify the preparation of fresh condiments and seasonings.

Made from Snow Beech sourced from Uonuma, Niigata, the stick utilises the natural hardness and resilience of the wood to grate ingredients such as ginger, garlic, and wasabi with surprising ease.

The ergonomic shape provides a comfortable grip, allowing ingredients to be grated with minimal effort while maintaining excellent control.

More than just a grating tool, it can also be used to scrape grated ingredients directly from the work surface and mix them into sauces, soups, dressings, or hot pots without reaching for additional utensils. The blade-free design makes it comfortable and safe to use, while the reverse side can be used for light cutting tasks when required.

  • As each piece is crafted from natural wood, variations in grain, colour, and natural markings are part of its unique character.
  • Hand wash only. Not suitable for microwave or dishwasher use.
  • Keep away from open flames and direct heat sources.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, or excessive humidity.
  • Dry thoroughly after washing before storing to help prevent mould and warping.
  • Do not leave the product wet for extended periods. Wipe dry promptly after cleaning.
  • Natural wood may respond to changes in temperature and humidity. Proper care will help maintain its shape and appearance.
  • Avoid excessive force, strong impacts, or misuse, as this may cause damage.
